Licence terms

for the Halftone 42 program · As of November 2026. The German version is binding.

1. Scope

These terms govern the use of the Halftone 42 program for Windows and macOS by André Lucas, Epic Art and Sound (“we”). Licences are sold by Freemius (Freemius, Inc., USA) as authorised reseller; purchase, payment and refunds are governed by its terms of sale, the use of the program by these licence terms.

2. Free trial

You can try Halftone 42 on any computer free of charge with all features for 28 days from the first start. After that, no capture starts until a licence is activated. Images you have saved until then stay in your folders.

3. What the licence allows

4. What is not allowed

Reverse engineering the program is only allowed to the extent expressly permitted by law (§§ 69d, 69e German Copyright Act).

5. Online functions

Your images, designs and print files stay on your computer. For the licence check, Halftone 42 occasionally needs an internet connection: at start-up and once a day. Without internet, the last successful check remains valid for 30 days. The program also checks for updates. What is transmitted is described in the privacy policy.

6. Third-party components

Halftone 42 contains components by other makers, e.g. Electron and the sparrow engine for gang sheets. Their own licences apply; they are listed in the program’s help under “About Halftone 42” → “Third-party licences”.

7. Warranty and liability

Statutory rights apply. The best way to report defects is to write to info@epicartandsound.com.

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable if we breach an essential obligation on whose fulfilment you may rely, and then limited to the typical, foreseeable damage.

Halftone 42 does not overwrite or delete any of your files; it only saves images when you tell it to, and only to your folders. We still recommend regular backups.

8. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you live remain unaffected.
